Training classes are currently "on-hold." Doggie Socials are happening... Berner jumping

As a Trainer, I understand there are as many methods of training as there are trainers, and what works with one dog or handler does not necessarily work with another. My training philosophy includes SOFT HANDLING and POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT methods. Through a praise and reward philosophy, a happy, responsive, obedient dog is mastered.

I am a registered AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator, and feel the AKC 10-part test is a valuable tool and goal for any dog/handler team. My training classes include: puppy play-groups to adult and "Doggie Socials" in our fenced in yard. I offer basic obedience instruction, and CGC classes, in a group setting as well as occasional private instruction. I have raised and trained Bernese Mt. Dogs since 1989, earning obedience titles with my dogs. I had been an instructor for Mid-Hudson Kennel Association, Ltd for more than 8 years; and their AKC obedience trial chair for 4 years. I am also a member of the Association Pet Dog Trainers. I attend classes, training, and behavior seminars when I can, to learn new methods and philosophies of training and 'tweak' old...

Doggie Socials are "play dates' in a controlled fenced-in setting. The Dog Park setting of my fenced-in yard is the location of hours of fun and exercise. Owners and their dogs are screened and invited based on compatability. Aggressive dogs (and people) are 'not invited ' for the safety of all. Dogs that NEED socialization are invited in a controlled setting at another time; where training is part of the fun! Please reserve 'your spot' as I try to schedule compatable dogs together. Space is limited. Becausse of the gage of my fence, I do not hold Doggie socials for Toy breeds.

The fee for Doggie Socials is $8/week; a series of 8 weeks is $56.00; Coffee is served...Owners are expected to clean up after their dogs, and kindly give notice if they are going to miss a session...

As a trainer and AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN EVALUATOR, I strongly believe in training and socializing...

Have you considered AKC's Canine Good Citizen [CGC] Certification for your dog? Started in 1989, CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. State legislatures began recognizing the CGC program as a means of advocating responsible dog ownership and 17 states now have Canine Good Citizen resolutions.

The American Kennel Club is pleased to share the news that in some regions, Nationwide Insurance is issuing homeowners insurance to owners of breeds previously prohibited by the company, providing the dog passes the AKC Canine Good Citizen test...
