Training:

Whether you train with me, or with one of these other fine trainers in the area, it's OK. The important thing is that you train! And the idea is to find a trainer you trust, understands behavior, and knows how to work with you to suit your needs. You can sign up for all the classes in the world, BUT unless you actually attend the classes, and work with your dog consistently in between classes, you will not have the companion you may be seeking. If we don't take responsibility for our dogs and their behavior, we will be at odds with society. With growing anti-dog legislation, (check out the ADOA site...) it is in every owner's BEST interest that YOU train your dog!

Train Don't Complain!

I have known the following trainers and trained with each of them for some time, some as long as 15 years... - either attending their classes or co-teaching via MHKA classes... I have faith & trust in their skills and knowledge, and highly recommend them. Those listed, are all fellow APDT members and subscribe to a positive reinforcement soft-handling philosophy. Sometimes firm but gentle techniques are used depending on the situation, but dogs are NEVER hung nor swung around. Flat-buckle collars or martingales are the preferred choice over pinch collars...
It is important for you to find a class that meets your schedule, one you will attend!

If you talk to the animals they will talk to you and you will know each other. If you do not talk to them, you will not know them. And what you do not know you will fear. What one fears, one destroys. Let them whisper in my ear and I shall listen. ~Dr. Karen

SAVE the 911 Memorial

We launched our website www.savethe911memorial.com which asks people to sign our petition. Savethe911memorial.com shows what will be lost at the WTC Memorial if Mayor Bloomberg's plan is implemented. We ask that you support the family names proposal which seeks only to have the WTC Memorial answer the questions everyone asks about 9/11 victims. Please view our PSA called Missing at the Memorial on www.Takebackthememorial.org. This issue is so important not only to the 9/11 families but to future generations. PLEASE sign our petition and pass on the information to everyone you know and ask them to do the same. I have also attached a copy of the petition which can be downloaded and used as a hardcopy to collect signatures. If you know of any college students who would be willing to collect signatures on college campuses that would also be very helpful. Taking the petition to events, dinners, gatherings, etc... is a very effective way to spread the word and collect signatures. I really appreciate your help. Let the politicians in the call to action section know that you do not support the Mayor's plan. Thank you.

As many of you knew or knew of, my cousin Gary http://cf.newsday.com/911/victimsearch.cfm?id=289; who died 9/11 in the WTC...
Gary was the closest I ever had to a brother, and we desperately miss him. The 9/11 Memorials been a long drawn out process filled with politics... Basically, Mayor Bloomberg is trying to make a generic memorial with a mere list of names with no reference to who these people are, or even where they were during the attacks. Some were service men police officers and firemen, some were in Washington DC others at the WTC; some were victims in the '93 attack... He is done excavating the site while many remains still continue to be found...
My cousin Edie (Gary's sister
http://www.espeed.com/pdf/12520b.pdf , (and sister to Howie (Howard Lutnick of Canter-Fitzgerald CEO who lost 658 employees, one of which was Gary.) has quit her law practice to manage the Canter Fitzgerald Relief Fund, http://cantorrelief.org/ and taken on the task of the advocate for the 9/11 memorial; she asked me to forward this petition regarding the 9-11 memorial. This may seem like a small thing, or somewhat of a bother, but it really is SO important to us! PLEASE sign the petition and pass it on to everyone you know.
Many families, as in the case of my cousin, Gary Lutnick, have no remains to bury in a grave... Ground Zero is all we have. The memorial is to be Gary's tombstone along with so many others. No mention of who these people are... Gary was not a high ranking police officer, but should not be denied that he was part of a 'family'- the "Cantor Fitzgerald Family" and only 36 years old. Likewise, any member of the FDNY, NYPD, or even a toddler in the daycare, should also not be listed as a mere name, and history forgotten...
Please do what you can to support the proposal of the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund
http://cantorrelief.org/ <http://cantorrelief.org/> and the"Save the 9/11 Memorial" proposals http://www.savethe911memorial.com/ <http://www.savethe911memorial.com/> .

Thanks.

Becca

http://www.9-11heroes.us/v/Gary_Lutnick.php

Gary Lutnick (1964-2001), a partner with Cantor Fitzgerald. A skilled trader who worked the U.S. agency desk, he was known outside of the office as a loyal friend and a loving brother and uncle. Orphaned as a teenager, Lutnick was extremely close to his siblings, his sister Edie and his brother Howard, the chairman and chief executive officer of Cantor Fitzgerald. He was in his office at Cantor Fitzgerald's headquarters in the World Trade Center's north tower at the time of the attacks. American Airlines Flight 11 struck the north tower, and smoke from the resulting fire began filling the building's upper floors. Trapped in his office, Lutnick called his sister to say that he didn't think he was going to make it. He told her that he loved her and asked to tell the rest of the family that he loved them as well. More than 650 other employees of Cantor Fitzgerald lost their lives that same day.
